This signed print by prominent artist, Louis Sloan, is available

Louis Sloan was a prominent figure among Philadelphia painters.
He taught still-life, landscape, portrait and figure painting
in the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and worked as a
conservator in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Many prestigious
awards were received by this first African-American
faculty member of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
It was Mr. Sloan's wish that struggling artists were to be
assisted through the proceeds of this print. It was his quiet
custom to personally provide art materials to students who
had little resources. His legacy is continued through the work
of the American Academy of the Sacred Arts, a non-profit
organization that helps artists obtain commissions and supports
the important contribution of artists to American culture
until patrons of the arts can assume this position. |
